Job Description: The Economic Development Director will work to further community and economic development in Casey and the surrounding region in all relevant matters, including but not limited to the following: 1.) Business Retention and Expansion, working with local businesses to help them maintain and grow existing operations; 2.) Business Attraction, recruiting new business and marketing the community, also working with the Chamber of Commerce and Casey Industries, developing infrastructure, and increasing the quality of life in the community; 3.) Grants & Funding, continually seeking financing for projects the City deems viable and worthwhile; 4.) Networking & Communications, liaising with groups from around the city, county, and region, developing and implementing regional projects, maintaining networks of professional contacts, continuing education, serving as a resource for others in the region, and maintaining the City website; and 5.) Event Planning & Tourism, coordinate all community events such as 4th of July, Christmas in the Park, Crazy Casey Days, Movie Nights, and the Summer Concert Series.

Current Economic Development Office Daily Operations

1. Business Retention & Expansion

-Providing technical assistance to local businesses.

-Reviewing/Seeking grant/incentive opportunities.

-Collaborating with the SBDC, DCEO, and other organizations to assist businesses.

2. Grants & Funding

-Researching grant opportunities.

-Grant writing.

-Grant management and administration.

3. Networking & Communications

-Website Administration & Social Media Marketing.

-Meeting attendance – County & Regional Travel Required.

-Event planning.

-Networking.

-Community Service.

4. Comprehensive Planning

5. Casey Industries, Inc. and Casey Chamber of Commerce Liaison

6. Business Attraction

-Ongoing community marketing efforts.

-Research and recruitment contacts.

-Vendor Permits

-Enterprise Zone and incentive work.

Boards served on: Southeastern Illinois Economic Development Authority, East Central Illinois Development Corporation, Clark County Enterprise Zone Board, Clark County Development Corporation, Casey Industries, Discover Downstate Illinois, and Casey Chamber of Commerce.

Hours: Monday - Friday, 7 am to 4 pm.

Some nights & weekends required for meetings and events.
